After thinking and researching for quite some time for our next holiday destination, my husband and I finally settled with Pulo Cinta. We saw a few images online and googled the rates and everything, we thought it’s the perfect place. It’s like the cheaper version of Maldives. lol
so let’s go to more details…
Where is it?
It is located in Gorontalo, Sulawesi, Indonesia. It is a private island surrounded by crystal blue ocean, in short, it’s a resort in the middle of the ocean. lol. Btw from above, it’s shaped like a heart, hence the name.

How to and how long will it take to get there?
We booked the flight from Jakarta to Gorontalo airport. it takes approximately 3 hours to get there from Jakarta.
We bought the package via booking.com, and it’s mentioned that someone’s from the resort is gonna pick us up at the airport. So when we arrived, the driver takes us directly to the harbor of the resort. It was a two-hour road trip to the harbor, and from there, there’s a boat that took us to the resort. It was another 20 min boat trip.
Overall it was a looonnnngggg ride.
Pulo Cinta resort?
When we arrived it was magnificent. The resorts were built above water, and it was literally in the middle of a freakin’ ocean! so cool. When we enter the room it was so lovely, the view especially. Honestly, when I heard that there’ll be no air conditioning, I freaked out a bit, cause the 1 thing I need to go to sleep is a blanket, imagine being inside a blanket without AC! however, the wind from the sea was definitely unexpected. It blows so hard at night that I was actually freezing.
Include in the package was breakfast, lunch, dinner and snorkeling gear. So the package was all in. However, my advice is to bring extra instant noodles, since you’ll be swimming a lot, you’ll be hungry a lot.
Island hopping?
We did pay extra money to go island hopping. It was ok I guess. Because after a few days in a room in the middle of the ocean, you’ll get bored, so you’ll want to do some activities outside of the hotel, so yeah, worth to try.
How much?
Honestly, I forgot, but if I’m not mistaken, it was around 4mio per night, more or less.
That includes a car with a driver that’ll take you from the airport to the harbor and back, the boat that’ll take you from the harbor to the resort and back, meal (breakfast, lunch, dinner), snorkeling gear, and of course the room.
The flight was 2,6mio per person. So for 3days and 2 night, the total we spend was 13.200.000 all in (price for 2 pax)
Oh and don’t forget to bring cash and small change for the tip 😉
